edv.de secures internal office doors with wireless electronic access control

As an IT service provider, edv.de knows first-hand how much modern technologies can make everyday life easier for companies and make processes more efficient. The Isernhagen-based company also uses particularly good solutions itself. “We then not only draw on theoretical knowledge about products, but can also recommend the solutions to our customers even more from our own experience,” says Managing Director Nico Röbbelen.

timeCard time recording in use for many years

For years, edv.de – which has been a certified partner of REINER SCT since 2012 – has been using and distributing the time recording solution “timeCard” time recording solution from the Black Forest company. It was specially developed for small and medium-sized companies and is characterized in particular by its intuitive use and clear user interface.

Immediately on fire

When REINER SCT then announced the partnership with Assa Abloy, the experts for mechanical locking solutions, at the sales partner conference in Schmitten in the fall of 2013 and the addition of “timeCard” to include wireless electronic access control, Nico Röbbelen and his colleagues from all over Germany were immediately hooked. He was the first to order the system for his own company during the lunch break. He installed the “Assa Abloy” solution even before the official market launch. The system was up and running in a flash. “No door constructions need to be changed, just a hub installed and controlled,” explains the edv.de Managing Director. Access control is completely implemented in “timeCard“. As the system has a modular design, it can be added to door by door and is also suitable for fire protection and escape doors.

Ideal for interior doors

The technology is based on highly secure RFID radio technology. This means that no doors need to be retrofitted with cables. This saves money, effort and possible business interruption during installation. Several doors can be secured with this technology – ideal for interior doors. This makes it easy to protect the archive, the server room or individual offices with the technology, for example. Edv.de has decided to equip individual offices with the system for security and data protection reasons. If employees close the door behind them, the doors lock automatically once activated and can only be opened again using a transponder. Keys are therefore a thing of the past. Incidentally, the doors are not fitted with knobs on the inside, but with normal door handles. This means that even an activated door can be opened from the inside at any time without a transponder – for example, if an emergency occurs and a fire breaks out.

No problem with “lost keys”

The biggest advantage of the system for edv.de: “If an employee loses their key with a conventional key system, the entire locking system always has to be replaced immediately. This is time-consuming and expensive. If a transponder chip is lost with the new solution, it is sufficient to block it – which only takes a few seconds – and to program and issue a new chip,” says Röbbelen. The system can also automatically create a complete record of which transponder was used to open which doors and when. For example, in the event of an emergency, if a building has to be evacuated, it is easy to see how many employees are inside.

Employees appreciate simple operation

Röbbelen is not the only one who is enthusiastic about the system; his employees also give positive feedback: “They now only have to close the door and no longer have to think about locking it. They also have one less key on their key ring,” summarizes Röbbelen. Nico Röbbelen concludes: “The new solution from REINER SCT covers our requirements 100 percent. Errors are virtually eliminated. In my opinion, it impresses with an excellent price-performance ratio, is easy to operate and is quickly installed – perfect all round.”
