Innovative hardware security for the key ring

Table of contents

Furtwangen / Berlin, January 21, 2014 –

REINER SCT, specialist for hardware and software solutions for online security, will be exhibiting at this year’s “OMNICARD” trade fair on the stand of its partner certgate.
The core topic, which will also be discussed in a presentation by the two companies on the first day of the fair, is the question of how smartphones can be used as an identity medium.
OMNICARD will take place from January 21-23, 2014 in Berlin.
Can a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone also be used in the future for secure access solutions, time recording, mobile payment and even as a car key?
This question is the focus of this year’s trade fair appearance by REINER SCT and its partner certgate.
REINER SCT is an expert in secure online solutions and certgate is a specialist in mobile IT security and the inventor of the smart card in microSD format.
Together, the two companies will be presenting the “cgToken” at OMNICARD, which – as small as a key fob – secures companies’ critical infrastructures in combination with a mobile device.
The device is designed for all smartphones or tablet PCs that do not have an NFC interface or SD card slot.
The token provides both and thus enables contactless access control or mobile payment processes, for example.

Innovative hardware security

The device has its own SIM card slot, a Bluetooth module and an NFC interface.
It makes it possible for the first time to use certgate smartcard technology across platforms and also in mobile devices without micro SD support.
The partners are thus creating innovative cross-platform hardware security for e-mails, PKI use, mobile payment and time and access solutions.
Another particularly important feature of the cgToken is its OTA (over-the-air) capability.
This means that the Bluetooth token can be configured as required by a central location, such as the company’s IT administration, via an air interface.
This means that individual tokens can be spontaneously assigned or revoked new authorizations via the mobile network, regardless of location.

Lecture at the OMNICARD

The presentation by Stefan Schmidt-Egermann (Head of Business Development at certgate) and Andreas Staiger (Managing Director of REINER SCT) will take place on January 21, 2014 at 5 p.m. in Forum 5-4.
