Furtwangen, February 11, 2009 – With high investments in research and development, new innovative procedures for secure home banking have been developed and successfully tested together with leading credit institutions. “We are thus further expanding our market leadership in chip card readers,” says Carsten Sommer, Managing Director of Reiner SCT. “Consumers and companies alike recognize and appreciate the multifunctionality of our devices for processing chip cards. They use them for a wide range of applications such as home banking, online shopping and digital signatures as well as time recording and save costs through this multiple use.”

From chipTAN to SECODER – Significant involvement in secure online banking

Online banking is becoming increasingly common practice.
This makes it all the more important to further increase security standards in order to protect customers from sophisticated attacks such as hacker intrusions, phishing e-mails or Trojans.
With the development of the tan Jack ® and the tan Jack ® optic for the new chipTAN procedure, Reiner SCT has expanded its product portfolio of secure card readers.
chipTAN replaces the previous paper TAN list with a device with which the online banking TAN is generated electronically by the Maestro card.
When making a transfer, the user enters their bank details such as recipient account and amount using a small keypad.
The data is automatically included in the TAN generation and can only be used for this transaction.
Any manipulation by attackers is immediately detected by the bank and processing is stopped.
Reiner SCT is the only manufacturer to date to offer two production-ready card readers with an optical interface in accordance with the ZKA standard, with which the keyboard entries can be transferred directly from the PC screen to the device.
This solution will soon be available at many banks and savings banks.
In order to further increase security standards, the Central Credit Committee (ZKA) has developed a chip card reader specification for electronic banking applications in which Reiner SCT was actively involved: SECODER.
It is suitable for securing online account transactions, for payment via the Internet, for chip cards with electronic signatures and also as proof of age for web access.
Secoder readers can be used for all bank and savings bank cards, provided they are equipped with a chip.
The card readers can be recognized by the Secoder seal.
This confirms that all security tests defined by the ZKA have been successfully completed in independent test laboratories.
REINER SCT is the only manufacturer to offer several Secoder chip card readers that are also certified and confirmed in accordance with the German Digital Signature Act.

Timely time management

Another important business area for Reiner SCT is time recording and access control.
At the end of last year, the manufacturer launched its time recording solution time Card time recording solution.
The campaign kicked off with the new website www.reiner-sct.com/zeit.
Interested companies and resellers can find comprehensive information on time recording at a glance.
The website summarizes all product details in a clear format and provides demo versions of the current time Card -software for download.
Reiner SCT will be presenting further new products at the upcoming CeBIT.

Further investments in 2009

The growth is also reflected in the number of employees.
Last year, Reiner SCT took on 3 new employees and now employs 40 people.
“Our aim is to build up additional development resources.
We also want to expand our European sales channels and further develop our internationalization strategy.
Another important aspect for us is to increase our financial independence.
To this end, we are expanding our liquidity base so that we can also master future investments from our own resources.
This will make us faster and more flexible in our decision-making processes,” emphasizes Carsten Sommer.
Reiner SCT is also expanding its partnerships with companies and universities.
The company recently entered into a strategic partnership with SCM Microsystems, a leading provider of solutions for secure access to digital content and services.
“We are also investing heavily in 2009, both in new products and in new employees,” says Carsten Sommer. (The text contains approx. 4,789 characters)
