“This is naturally an exciting market for us,” says Carsten Sommer, Managing Director of REINER SCT, the market-leading company for smart card readers.

With the introduction of the new electronic legal transactions procedures, many notary’s offices will have to review their existing technology.
In particular, the new “SigNotar” and “XNotar” programs to be used and the solution to be used for communication with the courts require a certain level of equipment.
The customer terminals used for this purpose must meet strict security criteria for approval: The Federal Chamber of Notaries recommends that the data must be entered protected from external access, shown on a separate display for checking purposes and sent unaltered.
The cyberJack® e-com chip card reader from REINER SCT meets these requirements of security class 3. The legally valid personal signature on the Internet is set with the digital signature.
cyberJack® e-com fulfills all the high security requirements of the Signature Act and the Signature Ordinance for legally binding electronic signatures.

There are two specific applications for notary’s offices: “SigNotar” takes up the requirements that were added to the Beurkundungsgesetz by the Justizkommunikationsgesetz.
The program allows the notary to make electronic certified copies in accordance with § 39a BeurkG and certified printouts of qualified signed electronic documents.
“XNotar Commercial Register” makes it possible to generate the data required for automated further processing in a format suitable for transfer to the judiciary.
The data available in a notary application can be reused if it provides a suitable transfer function.
“XNotar” also integrates functions that facilitate the transfer of data to a judicial mailbox.
