Furtwangen, CeBIT 2006, Hall 17, Stand B60 – The joint security solution is based on the electronic signature of the customer and the bank.
Any data manipulation is recognizable for the respective transaction partner receiving the data and can therefore be averted.
Previous security solutions simply assume that no Trojans or viruses manipulate the inputs and outputs on the customer systems.
Therefore, a residual risk could not be avoided until now.
Last year, PPI developed a signature plug-in for the most important browsers.
The plug-in supports secure electronic signatures for HTML communication with the TRAVIC-Retail banking system.
This allows data from the bank and the respective customer to be securely signed and verified.
The customer can be sure that the data comes from his bank or savings bank; the credit institution is confirmed that the data originates from the customer.
In order to prevent Trojan attacks in the future, the various checking and control routines, which were previously located in the software on the customer’s PC, will be outsourced to the hardware of the smart card reader from REINER SCT.
This includes, in particular, signature verification and signature creation using the chip card as well as parts of the user guidance, which now runs via the display in the chip card reader.
In this combination solution of signature plug-in, smart card and smart card reader, important parts of the security checks, which can still represent a point of attack on the PC, are encapsulated in the tamper-proof hardware environment of the smart card reader.
This means that with this solution, customers and banks can communicate really securely over the Internet.
Bank customers whose institutions already support the PPI signature plug-in receive the new security level simply by using the REINER SCT cyber Jack®e-com security class 3 chip card reader with a special firmware module that can be loaded into the cyber Jack®e-com via a secure download.
No adjustment is necessary on the bank side; only the plug-in needs to be updated.
Security in online banking is essential and is increasingly becoming a competitive factor for banks and savings banks.
The aim of the solution providers is to always be one step ahead of the criminal attacker and to be able to offer bank customers secure online banking in the future.
Systems that offer a high level of security and convenience are better rated and used by customers.
At CeBIT from March 9 to 15, 2006, this development will be presented to banks and savings banks at the stands of PPI Financial Systems (Hall 17, Stand A01.7) and REINER SCT Kartengeräte GmbH & Co. KG (Hall 17, Stand B60). (The text comprises approx. 3,000 characters)
