Hamburg, June 12, 2007 – This is what independent security experts and banks recommend.
In contrast to web banking with PIN/TAN, this does involve initial costs for chip card readers and software.
But these are worth the added security.
The security procedure is now affordable for everyone: as part of a security campaign, software and hardware are available from just 69 euros instead of the regular 114 euros.
When banking online, you can use different security media – depending on what your bank offers.
Although most online bankers currently use web banking with PIN/TAN, this procedure also involves numerous risks such as phishing.
All known attacks are directed against this browser-based online banking.
HBCI with chip card is currently the most secure procedure.
Internet criminals have no chance and there have never been any successful attacks – thanks to external PIN entry, high encryption and electronic signatures.

Two security classes – two offers

The offer as part of the security offensive includes a cyber Jack ® chip card reader and the StarMoney 6.0 software.
You can choose between two security classes for the reader.
Security class 2 readers have their own keypad.
This makes it very difficult for criminals or Trojans to “eavesdrop” on the PIN entry.
Security class 3 readers also have their own display and are therefore equipped for the future.
The data can be displayed again immediately before the signature. This allows users to ensure that their entries have not been falsified and that the correct data is signed. The product package consisting of reader and software costs 69 and 99 euros (instead of the regular 114.50 and 174.80 euros) as part of the security campaign, depending on the security class.
Both product packages are available from participating banks and savings banks as well as the initiators of the security campaign.
An overview of all stores can be found at www.sicherheitsoffensive2007.de.
The 2007 security offensive is a campaign by REINER SCT, Star Finanz and the GeldKarte initiative.
