Furtwangen, March 04, 2011 – With the cyber Jack ® RFID comfort from REINER SCT, the BSI (German Federal Office for Information Security) yesterday certified the world’s first comfort reader.
As a comfort reader, the cyber Jack ® RFID comfort represents the highest chip card reader category for the new ID card (nPA).
Unlike all previous readers, it will also enable the use of the electronic signature function (eSign) in future.
The developers at REINER SCT worked tirelessly together with the BSI and the test centers involved to complete the device, which is important for the success of the nPA.
Carsten Sommer, Managing Director of REINER SCT: “We have accepted the challenge and have made considerable investments in advance. Now it is up to the accredited trust centers to follow suit as quickly as possible and provide the required eSign certificates for reloading onto the nPA.”
This is because processes such as the electronic remuneration statement (ELENA) are urgently dependent on them.
The electronic signature must be available for them across the board.
Dr. Christoph Sutter, Head of the Certification Body at TÜV-IT, presented the confirmation certificate in accordance with the Signature Act and Signature Ordinance (SigG/SigV).
Bernd Kowalski, Department President of the BSI, presented the certification certificate in accordance with BSI TR-03119 to Carsten Sommer.
The certificates were presented at the stand of Bundesdruckerei, the manufacturer of the new ID document.
Through its trust center D-Trust, Bundesdruckerei is already demonstrating the reloading of a qualified certificate onto the new ID card (qualified electronic signature) at CeBIT.
As a multifunctional device, the cyber Jack ® RFID comfort serves both contactless RFID cards (nPA, cash card and eTickets) and those with a contact chip (e.g. for online banking via HBCI/FinTS, Secoder and EBICS or for electronic signatures). The reader will be available from April 2011. Thanks to the government subsidy of 25 euros, it can be ordered at a reduced price of 119.90 euros from the REINER SCT online store (www.chipkartenleser-shop.de/shop/npa).
