Furtwangen, March 17, 2011 – More than half of the demands placed on modern time recording systems relate primarily to the area of personnel planning and payroll accounting.
This was the result of a study conducted by REINER SCT and Furtwangen University.
A total of 15 percent of those surveyed named possible applications that clearly go beyond this classic area – such as project analysis tools or integrated elements within production data collection.
The fact that it is no longer enough for medium-sized companies to simply record clocking in and out using time recording is also reflected in their criticism of their current solution.
A total of 32 percent of those surveyed criticized the inadequate range of functions (see Press Service 2, November 2010).
Looking at the details, an integrated attendance and absence display and an integrated overtime evaluation are particularly in demand – one sixth of respondents explicitly stated this.
A total of 39% would like to see additional functions for personnel planning and payroll accounting, such as shift, duty and vacation planning, average value and special bonus calculation as well as the recording of specific days of absence.
The solution should also be linked to other IT systems.
20 percent therefore consider extended interfaces to be relevant; primarily to payroll accounting, but also to project management and company data collection.
In addition, a total of eight percent would like to use their time recording system to manage and evaluate projects.
Reporting, on the other hand, does not appear to be a priority.
Only four percent have concrete ideas here, expecting graphical display options.

Information on the study

650 companies from various sectors were surveyed on the subject of time recording.
Only five percent of the medium-sized companies surveyed had more than 500 employees.
The study was conducted between May 5, 2010 and June 10, 2010 by Furtwangen University on behalf of REINER SCT.
This is the fifth edition of the press service on time recording in medium-sized companies.
REINER SCT will be presenting the results of the time recording study every month for six months.
The following topics are covered: 10/2010: Why do companies use time recording systems?
11/2010: How satisfied are companies with their solution?
12/2010: What advantages did time recording offer the companies surveyed?
01/2011: When does a time recording system also become interesting for critical companies?
02/2011: Which system types are preferred?
03/2011: Time recording as a data analysis tool: What information do companies want?
