Furtwangen, October 18, 2010 – With the introduction of a new procedure, Postbank is expanding its security measures in online banking.
From November 16, 2010, it will be the first major bank in Germany to use the secure, flexible and convenient chipTAN comfort with the TAN generator tan Jack® optic SX TAN generator from REINER SCT.
The previous iTAN procedure with the paper list is being phased out and will no longer be used from mid-2011 at the latest.
With the chipTAN comfort procedure, the customer uses a card reader, the optical TAN generator.
This is held in front of the monitor after entering the transaction data such as the recipient account and transfer amount in the online banking form.
Via an optical interface in the device, the data can be easily and conveniently transferred from the PC to the TAN generator, where it is displayed and checked by the user.
If the details are correct, the small device generates the transaction number (TAN) at the touch of a button, which is only valid for a short time and exclusively for this order.
To confirm the booking, all that remains is to enter the TAN in the online mask.
If the user notices any discrepancies in the data displayed, it is likely that the computer has been infected by malware (Trojan).
In this case, the customer should cancel the process immediately, inform the bank and check their computer for malware using an anti-virus program.
The technology company REINER SCT from Furtwangen played a key role in developing the chipTAN comfort procedure.
The optical TAN generator tan Jack® optic SX is the smallest model in the tan Jack® optic product range.
With just four buttons and a large display, it is particularly easy to use.
Postbank customers can now purchase the card reader online in the webshop at www.postbank.reiner-sct.de. (The text comprises approx. 2,030 characters)
