Furtwangen, August 8, 2011 – REINER SCT, Star Finanz and the GeldKarte initiative are jointly launching the “Security Campaign 2011” for the third year in order to contribute to greater security in online banking.
The campaign website www.sicher2011.de provides information about possible attack scenarios on the Internet, effective protective measures and the advantages of the HBCI procedure (Homebanking Computer Interface).
Secure online banking pays off
Increasing cybercrime and the growing need of online users for security and data protection make comprehensive measures for reliable online banking absolutely essential.
After the TAN lists used to date, which are being discontinued due to significant security flaws, HBCI-based security solutions are currently regarded as extremely secure in the fight against phishing, pharming and Trojans.
To participate in this procedure, users need a chip card, a chip card reader and online banking software.
Despite the high security standards provided by a special electronic signature procedure with complex encryption, the technology has not yet become widespread.
Although almost every second German is now prepared to pay a small amount for secure online banking, only around a quarter of those surveyed in the “(N)Onliner-Atlas 2011” study are familiar with the HBCI procedure, with only seven percent using it.
REINER SCT, Star Finanz and the GeldKarte initiative support the use of such HBCI solutions with discounted hardware and software packages.
These include the StarMoney 8.0 online banking software and the cyber Jack® RFID standard or comfort chip card reader.
Thanks to the federal government’s promotion of discounted software and hardware for the use of RFID chip cards, the security offensive packages are even cheaper – for a short time only and while stocks last.
The set with the chip card reader cyber Jack® RFID standard including the multi-bank capable financial program StarMoney 8.0 costs only 74.80 euros instead of 118.40 euros.
The product package with the cyber Jack® RFID comfort including StarMoney 8.0 is available with a price advantage of 29 percent and can be purchased for 149.80 instead of 209.80 euros.
The TÜV-certified online banking software StarMoney 8.0 can do more than just process traditional payment transactions with different banks in just one program.
With intelligent functions and unique account types, all other finances relevant to life are also managed conveniently and securely.
Optimum protection against manipulation and phishing is provided by a security technology developed exclusively for StarMoney: the Promon shield.
This protection mechanism works on the basis of internal program monitoring and enables secure online banking even on infected computers at startup and during use.
At the same time, the Promon security technology successfully fends off attacks.
The cyber Jack® series smart card readers from REINER SCT included in the product packages read both contact and contactless RFID smart cards.
Examples of this are the new ID card (nPA) for secure authentication on the Internet and the contactless GeldKarte, which can be used for fast, secure and anonymous cashless payments.

The 2011 security offensive begins on August 8 and ends on September 30, 2011.
The aim is to raise awareness of possible attack scenarios by cyber criminals and to present effective protective measures against unauthorized access.
At www.sicher2011.de, interested parties will receive tips against phishing, pharming and Trojans as well as more detailed information on the advantages and areas of application of online banking with HBCI.
The campaign is a joint project of REINER SCT, Star Finanz and the GeldKarte initiative.
In addition, REINER SCT offers the opportunity to research credit institutions that actively support and offer the HBCI procedure on the website www.hbci-finder.de.
The HBCI procedure
The HBCI procedure is a state-of-the-art multi-banking standard that makes online banking more secure and convenient than ever before.
With the help of sophisticated encryption technology, the user’s access data is doubly protected, making it impossible for fraudsters to steal TANs.
The data is evaluated via Secoder-certified chip card readers such as the cyber Jack® models and cannot be accessed by hackers.
Additional security is provided by the display of the transaction on the device display with separate verification by the user.
