Furtwangen, November 12, 2010 – Insufficient functionality and complex application structures are the most frequent points of criticism from medium-sized companies regarding their time recording system.
This was the result of a study conducted by REINER SCT and Furtwangen University.
Almost half of those surveyed consider their current solution to be in need of improvement. In contrast, 58 percent of participants were completely satisfied. They would recommend their time recording system to others without hesitation.
Only eight percent of the companies surveyed had only recently implemented their solution.
The majority, on the other hand, introduced the system more than five years ago.
They are therefore familiar with the system, but still consider it too complex.
In addition, 17 percent criticize the service, consulting, maintenance and update costs.
The main point of criticism is inadequate system functions.
This clearly shows that companies today want to work more comprehensively with their solution.
However, the range of functions must be considered relative to the age of the system, as the market has developed significantly in recent years.
If the figures for system critics are compared with those for completely satisfied users, it also becomes clear that there are still major differences in quality across the market.
At the same time, the results reflect the most important selection criteria for a system.
Anyone interested in a (new) time recording system should therefore make sure that:

  • There are flexible expansion options for the system functions
  • the system is simple and intuitive for users to use
  • Maintenance and update costs remain manageable
  • Service and advice are free of charge even after implementation

Study details 650 companies from various sectors were surveyed on the subject of time recording.
Only five percent of the medium-sized companies surveyed had more than 500 employees.
The study was conducted between May 5, 2010 and June 10, 2010 by Furtwangen University on behalf of REINER SCT.
