How is it used?
With home banking, the chip card reader is connected to the PC and a special HBCI chip card is inserted into the chip card reader. The payment is confirmed with the corresponding PIN – without generating a TAN.
How do the chip card readers differ?
For security-relevant applications such as online banking, card readers are divided into four security classes in ascending order of security. These indicate the level of security the devices offer for data transmission. Products with security class 4 offer the highest possible level of security.
The classes of readers depend mainly on the (non-)existence of their own display or keyboard.
