Would you like to do your online banking conveniently on your PC, tablet or smartphone? Then we recommend the new chipTAN QR procedure. Whether in the browser, with financial software or with the Sparkassen app, chipTAN QR makes your online banking very fast and secure. All you need is your SparkassenCard (debit card) or an account-unlinked debit card and a new TAN generator, which you can order from the Sparkassen store. This procedure complies with the current security recommendations of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
How it works
- Enter all the necessary data in the transfer mask of your online banking. Then select “chipTAN QR”.
- Insert your SparkassenCard into the TAN generator. Use it to scan the displayed QR code. The QR code is recognized within one second.
- Check and confirm the order data shown on the secure display of the TAN generator.
- Then enter the TAN displayed in the TAN input field of your PC, tablet or smartphone.

Note:
If you are already using the chipTAN procedure and would like to switch to the new chipTAN QR procedure, you will need a new chipTAN QR reader, which you can order from the Sparkasse store.
chipTAN QR step by step
What you need: Your account is activated for online banking with chipTAN. In addition, you only need your SparkassenCard and a new TAN generator for chipTAN QR.
Switch to chipTAN: If you currently use chipTAN, pushTAN or smsTAN, you can easily switch to chipTAN QR online*.

Generate TAN: Once you have sent an order, a QR code appears on the monitor or mobile display. Insert your SparkassenCard into the TAN generator and use it to scan the QR code. The order data is now displayed on the TAN generator. Now just check, confirm and enter the TAN.
Switch to chipTAN
Not yet using the chipTAN procedure? This makes it very easy to change:
- Your login details (login name or legitimation ID and PIN) will not change when you switch!
- In online banking (browser), after entering an order, click on “Use chipTAN QR instead” before entering the TAN
- Then check the box below the TAN input field: “Save this TAN procedure as preferred procedure.”
- For chipTAN QR you need a SparkassenCard and a new TAN generator for chipTAN QR.
