Mobile banking with QR code

In mobile banking, QR codes (e.g. GiroCode) now function as payment codes with information for a bank transfer. This means you can conveniently pay outstanding bills on your smartphone while on the move.

This procedure is intended to avoid typing errors and thus cancelations. To date, QR codes have been used on packaging or in advertisements in addition to invoices. In future, you will receive more and more invoices with a GiroCode, whether in digital or paper form.

Advantages

  • Convenient payment with your smartphone via banking app
  • No more tedious typing of transfer data
  • No more typos in bank transfers

This method can also be used to pay at payment terminals such as in stores, parking machines or swimming pools. To do this, the QR code must be scanned at the payment terminal. The amount then appears on the cell phone, the PIN must now be entered and the amount is paid.

How mobile banking with QR code / GiroCode works

A banking app with an integrated scan function must be downloaded in order to use it.

After reading the code, a fully completed transfer mask will open.

The transfer then only needs to be confirmed with a TAN, for which a TAN generator is required.

GiroCode can be used with the following banking apps:

  • Savings bank
  • Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken
  • Commerzbank
  • Sparda Bank
  • Postbank
  • BBBank
  • BW Bank
  • GLS Bank
  • Banking4Attention:

Here too, it is better not to use the mTAN procedure, as security is only guaranteed by using a second device.
